Classic Covers Cup 2010 Terms and Eligibility
Organizers and Beneficiaries: The Classic Covers Cup 2010 is organized by the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and Red House Studios. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Lafayette Art & Science Foundation (LASF) to benefit area schools.
Prizes: The grand prize is a $1,000 spot on stage at the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival the weekend of September 18, 2010. Winners of each of the preliminary rounds will also receive a professionally mixed CD of their final round set.
Contest Dates & Availability: Red House will host 3-5 preliminary rounds consisting of five bands each on Thursday evenings beginning July 22. A band’s availability to compete in multiple preliminary rounds (flexibility) will greatly increase its chances of acceptance. The winner of each preliminary round will go on to compete in the finals, which will be held on Thursday, August 26. All shows will start at 7pm.
Set Length/Equipment: Each band will be permitted to play a 20 minute set in the preliminary round, and approximately a 45 minute set in the final round. To speed transitions between bands, Red House will provide a common drum kit and bass amp.
Judging: Each preliminary round will be judged by one of Red House’s professional instructors. The final round will be judged by a three person panel. Bands will be judged based on three factors:
Crowd Response/Draw (bring your fans!)
Eligibility: The Classic Covers Cup 2010 is open to amateur bands whose members are at least 30 years of age and whose repertoire consists of cover songs from any genre. Red House Studios and the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce reserve the right to accept or reject bands based the spirit of the eligibility rules and the appeal of the performers to the audience at the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival.
