Opportunity Junction is a non-profit organization that fights poverty by helping low-income Contra Costa residents gain the competence and confidence to support themselves and their families.
Thursday, September 30, 11 am – 12 pm: Bay Point Career Center Orientation Workshop – Come and learn more about the Bay Point Career Center services. Ongoing: English as a Second Language (ESL) classes – Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-9 pm; teacher-led class; Mondays and Wednesdays 6-9 pm, language lab. Volunteer tutors may be available to help practice English. Registration is ongoing, Mondays-Thursdays 6-9 pm. Friday October 1, 6 p.m. - Free Tax Preparation and Filing Services for Low-Income Workers: with help from experienced session leaders, tax filers will complete their own returns using a simple web-based interface. Free federal and state e-filing for 2009 returns is still available, and session leaders can help participants prepare 2007 and 2008 tax returns, too. Sign-ups are required at . The sessions are held in Antioch and are sponsored by Opportunity Junction.
